Rachelle: It’s a pleasure to meet you, Torin.
Thank you for agreeing to meet with--
Torin: (interrupting, still standing) Yeah.
Dariel asked me to come by and answer some questions. What’s this about?
Rachelle: Oh, well I’m an author, and a friend
of Dariel’s, so she just thought it would be nice if I had a chance to meet you
and ask you a few things. Would you mind sitting--?
Torin: (frowning, and interrupting again)
And again, I ask, what’s this about? Dariel knows I don’t have time to waste
sitting around talking. (turns to leave)
Rachelle: (starts to stand) Wait! I won’t keep
you long. I just want you to answer a few questions. If I’m a friend of
Dariel’s I can’t be all bad.
Torin: Well that remains to be seen, but go
ahead. What do you want to know?
Rachelle: Okay. If you don’t mind, I’ll just
get right to the point. Tell me about yourself. How did you become interested
in forensic science?
Torin: I’m pretty good at sniffing things
out, but I don’t like to be around a lot of people.
Rachelle: Oh. Okay. Dariel tells me you have
quite a bit of land. How did you acquire it?
Torin: We’ve always lived on the land. Until
about 60 years ago, we had even more, but people started killing without reason
as if they had a right to wipe us off the earth just so they could live more
extravagantly. Disgusting. Yeah, I inherited it.
Rachelle: Well, let’s lighten things up a bit.
Do you have any hobbies in your spare time? What do you enjoy doing?
Torin: Don’t have much spare time, but I
like some computer games. You know the kind that relax your mind because all
you need is good hand/eye coordination. Other than that, I run a lot to relax.
Rachelle: Do you foresee a family, children in
your future?
Torin: (frowns) What kind of question is
that? Who sits around thinking about shit like that? It happens, it happens.
I’m just trying to live. I try not to waste time dreaming about a certain kind of life.
Rachelle: I understand you met Stephanie
because you needed a lawyer. What was your first impression of her?
Torin: (chuckles) I thought she was an uppity
little female who acted like she was above everybody else.
Rachelle: So has your opinion of her changed
any?
Torin: You gotta admit she’s a snob and
she’s got a damn rule for everything. Nah, my opinion hasn’t changed much
because I was right from the beginning.
Rachelle: So what do you think is going to
happen between the two of you?
Torin: (spears hand through his unruly dark
hair) Like I said a moment ago, I don’t have time for dreaming.
Rachelle: So if you did dream, sounds like Stephanie might be one of the stars. Am I--?
Torin: (stands abruptly) Have you asked
enough questions? I’ve got things to do.
Rachelle: (stands, hand extended) Oh,
certainly. Thank you. This has been interesting.
Torin: (leans forward to shake her hand and
glances at notebook. Frowns, shakes his head and leaves).
Rachelle: Well, folks, that was Torin, the alpha hero of Dariel Raye's new Dark Sentinels Book Two. Here's more about the book.
“Dark Sentinels Book Two: Torin” by Dariel Raye
When greedy land developers
set their sights on Dark Sentinel land, Torin turns to attorney Stephanie Bates
for help, but she’ll need his protection to stay alive long enough to save his
land.
Real estate lawyer, Stephanie
Bates, has risen to the top of her field through meticulous sacrifice and goal
setting. She has no time for distractions – and that includes pets, messy
relationships, and loose ends.
Torin DuMont is a forensic
scientist who chose the profession to avoid dealing with people as much as
possible. Raised by a stepfather who hated him, he’s been forced to live a life
of solitude, fueled by anger and distrust. When wolves and shifters start
turning up dead, Torin must battle an enemy bent on destroying those he was
born to protect. His greatest challenge, however, is Attorney Bates and the
surprising affect she has on his heart.
