#AuthorInterview R. Lynn Archie, multi-genre author

Today, I'm happy to have R. Lynn Archie tell us about her writing. Lynn, I’ve had a look at your website and read a sample of Trial of Marriage. It looks like you’ve written across several genres, contemporary romance, vampires and urban fantasy. How do you approach the challenge of building an author brand and communicating to the reader what to expect?

I would have to say that hands down I am a romance author. Although I do write in three different genres (contemporary, vampire and urban fantasy), one thing readers can expect in all of my stories is the relationship factor. It gives me the benefit to switch it up and not dwell on just one genre, but instead focus on the common element which is the romance part.

Trial of Marriage is an interracial romance. Why did you make the couple interracial when it doesn’t seem as if race enters into the plot?

Yes, it’s true that race is not an opposing factor in the relationship of this story; however, this one in particular started out as a dream where the main characters, Angelic and Trey were interracial (black and white). As I started typing it up and envisioned how I wanted to move forward, I changed him to Spanish/Italian only because it was a better fit.

What are some of the challenges of writing an interracial story?

To be honest there were no challenges at all; everything came very natural to me.

Tell us about your vampire story. What makes yours stand out from the other vampire romances?

I have given the vampires in my story their own unique powers, as well as fresh situations to the world of vampires and all that they can manage. It’s that aspect that makes my story different from others out there.

Has anything in your life experience prepared you to write the novels you’ve written? Example?

None of my books have been written from life experiences.

What kind of books do you like to read? Who are the authors who’ve influenced you?

I like to read romances, paranormal, sci-fi and urban fantasy stories. I have so many, but these are at the top of my list of authors that have influenced me:  Stephanie Meyers (Twilight Series), J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter Novels), Stephen King, (My favorite – The Shining), and Margaret Mitchell (My all time favorite - Gone with the Wind) and H.G. Wells (The Time Machine).

Is there anything else you’d like to let your readers know?

Expect the unexpected.

That's always a good attitude. Thanks for being here on Rachelle's Window.

My first love has always been reading.  Toying with the idea of writing for years, I finally decided to use my creative ideas in the form of juicy romances and start Romance eBooks by R. Lynn Archie.
When not writing, I’m spending time with family, or enjoying laughs with my crazy, but lovable friends who I consider sisters from other mothers.
Every day is a precious gift, and I’m enjoying it by doing what I’m passionate about.

You can find R. Lynn Archie's books at Amazon.

If there's a ebook you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. ~ Toni Morrison
