International Authors Day by @b00kr3vi3ws - Favorite Authors #IAD

Years ago, readers were limited to books published in their country, but now, with the Internet and self-publishing authors from all around the world can make their books available to readers worldwide.

Writers from the Philippines, Romania, India, Australia, Britain, the USA among other places provide readers hours of entertainment and the opportunity to enjoy stories from outside their country.

So, to celebrate International Authors' Day, I'm going to feature a few of my favorite authors from outside my country.

Mina Esguerra is first on my list (see my Favorite Author Post). She lives in the Philippines and writes romance and chick-lit as well as modern day fairy tales taken from Filipino folklore and mythology. She is also a writing teacher and has mentored many young writers from her country through her #romanceclass and other writing groups. Check out Mina's book list on Goodreads and my Favorite Filipino Romances Listmania. Because of Mina's leadership, she has introduced many other Filipino authors to writing and publishing. Here is a list of authors whose books are associated with Mina's.

Rebecca Berto and Lilliana Anderson write HOT and Edgy books from Australia. The heroes are alpha tough and make you want to book the next flight on Quantas. Rebecca and editor Lauren McKellar, a sweeter Australian author, helped me with details and Australian culture for my book, Knowing Vera, which takes place in Melbourne and the offshore islands of the Bass Strait. If you want to rage on and rip a little naughty, check out Rebecca's Goodreads pageLilliana's Goodreads page and Lauren McKellar's Goodreads page.

Then, there are the readers. Since publishing Knowing Vera, a romance between a Filipino nurse and an Australian triathlete, I've been surprised by the number of women named Vera from Portugal. Giveaways on Goodreads and social media has allowed me to meet some wonderful Portuguese readers. Check out this Sinfonia Dos Livros, and My Escape.

And don't forget the bloggers! Debdatta Dasgupta Sahay, or @b00kr3vi3ws is one of many enthusiastic readers who read, collect, and review books on their blogs. If you haven't checked out Bookish Indulgences with b00kr3vi3ws, you're missing one of the premiere reader hangouts - from her "First Reads" challenge to her "Indie Fever" list of reviews, nobody loves books and supports authors like Debdatta.

To celebrate International Authors Day, I'm giving away one ebook of your choice from one of the featured authors: Mina Esguerra, Rebecca Berto, Lilliana Anderson, Lauren McKellar AND one ebook of your choice from me, Rachelle Ayala.

  1. I definitely enjoy hot books, and I don't think I've read any Australian authors yet, so a book by either Rebecca Berto or Lilliana Anderson sound great to me. Happy International Authors Day!

  2. What a great idea to feature international authors perhaps unknown to us.
I'm Australian but I don't know the authors yet mentioned. Maybe I'll meet them at the Romance Writers of Australia conference in Sydney in August :)

    1. Hi Linda, I would never have met Mina or any of these fabulous international authors had it not been for social media. I'm so glad I can step outside my boundaries and meet such great people.

Her books are lots of fun and always leave you with a good feeling.

      Rachelle
