I'm amazed at how much story Chantel Rhondeau packed inside a novella. Season For Love is so much more than a charming love story. Set near the holidays, it deals with the rigors and stress of the neonatal intensive care unit and life and death situations for the hospital patients.
Nurse Tess Riggs cares about her patients and their families. Every premature infant in the neonatal intensive care unit is precious to her and she has no respect for doctors who hurry in and out without regard to feelings. The biggest offender, in her eyes, is Dr. Dash Brisson, the young, handsome and wealthy specialist who is the rising star of their hospital.
Dr. Dash, meanwhile, has his eyes on Tess and when Tess joins a charity auction for a date with her, Dash is the highest bidder. While Dash turns on the charm and woos Tess, his patients take a turn for the worse. Meanwhile, Dash is interviewing with a group of doctors and trying to decide whether he wants to stay permanently in town.
Tess is critical of Dash, perhaps too much so, because of her past experience with men. But has she underestimated Dash's big heart? What does he have to do to prove himself to her? Dash does something bold and caring, but it might be too late as complications set in.
As I said, this story is packed jamful of love, emotions, even some suspense, and ends with cascades of feel-good fuzzies. Dash and Tess show that Christmas is indeed the right Season for Love.
